ABSTRACT
Cardiac transplantation is the treatment of choice for patients suffering from end-stage cardiac disease unamenable to conventional medical or surgical treatment. More than 390 patients have undergone heart transplantation at the Texas Heart Institute in Houston, and nine were Puerto Rican. Overall survival of these patients is 88%.
